What is this?
D3 RINs are generated by cellulosic biofuels — primarily renewable natural gas from landfills, anaerobic digesters, and dairy farms — under the U.S. Renewable Fuel Standard. The cellulosic pool is the smallest and the most volatile of the four RIN categories. D3 RINs sit at the top of the nesting hierarchy and may satisfy any obligation when retired downward.
